Very elegant and and beautifully painted large Russian Santa with firebird resting on Santa's arm. This piece is primarily painted in tones of white and shades of slate blue with gold accents throughout. The incredible depth of the painting is a unique style in which layer upon layer is lightly added, much in a floral pattern. Santa has perfectly matching blue eyes, as does the firebird (search slavic legend of firebird) with its long feathered tail trailing all the way to the bottom of Santa's coat, blending perfectly. Amazing detail from top to bottom of this hand carved wooden work of art.
